A likely reason for him to allow the attack is that he is shoring up unity within his country, perhaps in order to escalate the Ukraine war beyond the Ukrainian border. He and Xi Jingping may be planning military escapades that would engage NATO’s forces.
With the absence of America’s previous support, Putin could easily advance the complete destruction of Kiev. And with the chaotic malfunction of politics in the US, foreign powers may decide to seize an opportunity such as this to gain control of Taiwan, Ukraine, and Poland or the Baltic states.
